【摘要】:Itcannotbeassumedthatthistestmethodmeasuresthetrueshearstrengthoftheadhesivebond.Manyfactorsinterfereorbiasthemeasurementincludingthestrengthofthewood,thespecimen,thesheartooldesignsthemselves,andtherateofloading.4.1.1Woodfailureisverycommoninjointsmadewithstrongadhesives.Althoughhighwoodfailureisnormallydesired,whenitoccursthemeasuredstrengthislowerthanthetrueadhesivebondstrength.4.1.2Stressconcentrationsatthenotchesofthespecimentendtolowerthemeasuredstrength.Inasimilartestfortheshearstrengthofsolidwood,TestMethodsD143,theseeffectsareselfcorrectingsothatthemeasuredstrengthisclosetothetrueshearstrengthofthewood.Byanalogythesamemaybetrueinthistestmethod,however,otherfactorsarealsoinvolvedandmayaltertherelationship.4.1.3Therateofloadingaffectsthestrengthofanadhesivebondaccordingtotheadhesive’rheologicalproperties.Themoreviscoelasticorplastictheadhesive,thegreatereffect.Thermosettingadhesiveslikeurea-andphenol-formaldehydeareelastic.Theirbondstrengthscanbemeasuredoverarangeofloadingratefrom0.038to1.27cm/min(0.015to0.5in./min)withnoapparentaffect.Thermoplasticadhesiveslikepolyvinylacetate,hotmelts,andelastomer-basedadhesivesexhibitabroadrangeofelastic,viscoelastic,andplasticbehaviors.Theirbondstrengthswillbeaffectedtovaryingdegreesbychangingtheloadingrate.Generally,increasingtherate,increasesthemeasuredstrength.Thistestmethodissuitableforproductresearchanddevelopment,qualifyingadhesivesinaccordancewithcertainproductorperformancespecifications,andmonitoringbondingprocesscontrol.Thistestmethodmaybesuitableforcomparingandselectingadhesives,however,suchcomparisonsmustbemadewithcautionsincethemeasuredstrengthofsomeadhesivesmaybedifferentindifferenttypesofjoints.Strengthvaluesobtainedbythistestmethodarenotsuitableasdesignshearstrengthsvalueswithoutadjustmentbycertainengineeringdesignfactors.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthecomparativeshearstrengthsofadhesivebondsusedforbondingwoodandothersimilarmaterials,whentestedonastandardspecimenunderspecifiedconditionsofpreparation,conditioning,andloadingincompression.Thistestmethodisintendedprimarilyasanevaluationofadhesivesforwood.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareprovidedforinformationpurposesonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
